She had an extremely hard life before coming into the rescue, but it has been nothing short of amazing watching her blossom! This summer the rescue got a call from a small shelter in east Texas about a sweet little dog who was picked up as a stray. She had 2 large skin sacks hanging down from her abdomen that almost touched the ground, and she could barely walk because her back legs were so bowed from the heaviness of the growths. She was taken directly to our vet after being picked up and 2 surgeries were done to correct her medical issues. HoneyB had a bi-lateral hernia (2 bulges from her abdomen) and several smaller non-malignant tumors. There was also the issue of all the excess skin needing to be removed once the hernia was corrected and the tumors removed (she was one of the first rescue dogs to have her very own tummy tuck ;-) She is a different dog now; absolutely the happiest little girl you could imagine. HoneyB is a senior dog, but don't tell her we said that! She thinks she is still a young blossoming pup the way she loves to run after and follow her people and other pups around. She is an adorable little Chihuahua who is estimated to be about 9 years young and weighs 7 lbs; she should have lots of years left now that she is healthy again. She always looks like she is smiling at you when she is looking up at you....her ears are always standing tall and her eyes are all shiny. She is a very easy going little one and loves curling up in her doggie bed, but also does just fine when crated. She is housetrained and truly is an amazing girl. She does engage with the other pups in the home and loves to run after the others when everyone else is running through the house. She is a funny girl and definitely has her own special personality. Chihuahuas expected lifespan is anywhere from 18 to 20 years so she should have plenty of years left, especially seeing the way she is chasing around now making up for lost time! She would make a lovely companion for someone with a big heart like hers! HoneyB is ready to find a very special family looking for a very special little dog to bring home!
