Candi is just an absolute sweetheart and she seems to be happy all of the time. We believe she is a Maltese mix pup and she is estimated to be about 3-1/2 years of age, and currently weighs approximately 8 to 10 lbs. We rescued her from a kill shelter when she ran out of time and was going to be euthanized. We have discovered Candi is diabetic and will require insulin injections twice per day for the rest of her life, with occasional glucose testing as necessary. She will do best on the prescription diet food that is recommended for diabetic pups. Candi has no problems eating anything whatsoever, is not at all finicky, but what she eats will need to be monitored for her own good. Candi has developed cataracts as a result of the diabetes. So her vision is somewhat impaired. As you can see from her pictures her vision impairment does not stop her from treeing squirrels, nor from living life happily. Candi is very much a people pup. She doesn't mind other doggies around and is fine with kitties, but definitely prefers the company of a human. She is housetrained and crate trained and likes to sleep with her person. Candi doesn't seem to show much interest in toys, occasionally engaging in a little tug-o-war game, but she really looks forward to her walks every day and she is great on a leash. Consistent grooming will be important with this sweetheart. If you are interested in adding little Candi to your family, please fill out our PreAdoption Application.
