Sweet little Liberty is a Terrier mix pup who was born approximately Oct, 2013 and weighs about 9 pounds. She has been coming into her own little self in the last week since she has been in foster care with our rescue. She was very shy and quiet on arrival, but as she has realized that she is safe and loved she has started acting like a puppy. Now that she is free to be with the other dogs in her foster home, she is just nonstop action with another young pup that lives with her foster family as they play and romp and tug on toys together. When she gets tired or just wants to snuggle, she will come crawl into your lap and offers lots of puppy kisses or she will roll around on your legs to get her tummy rubbed. Liberty enjoys bringing her toys to you too and get you to play with her. She loves soft toys and really enjoys a little game of keep away while in your lap, weaving around your legs and trying to entice you to play with her. She loves chew toys and is very happy in her little dog bed with her bone. Liberty walks pretty well on a leash, but has a tendency to bark at other dogs and people, so we are currently working with her on that. It is just a puppy bark, not knowing who they are. We are currently working on her housetraining. She always potties outside, but like many puppies she gets distracted with play and just kind of piddles as she runs. She gets excited and piddles a little, tries to stop it, but it is sometimes hard, so now her foster mom has found the best thing to do with her is pick her up and walk her outside first thing in the morning. She seems to hold it that way and as soon as she is put on the ground she goes and we praise her. Liberty can hold it all night though. Her foster mom has left her in her bathroom overnight or for several hours with her little bed and she comes home to a dry floor. She gets along with 2 cats, wants to chase them if they run, but most certainly not to hurt them, just to play. She has been around her foster mom's niece and did well, spending some time with the family that came to meet her and was quite friendly and playful with all of them, from the 5 year old to the 10, 14 year old, and adult. Liberty is a great little dog, but since she is still quite young she will need a family who has the time and patience to help her through her puppy stage in life.
