Denver was saved from a highly wooded and popular dumping grounds for unwanted dogs in the Dallas area by a local rescuer. He is a sweet little dog that we believe to be a Spaniel/Dachsund mix. He is around 1 years old and currently weighs about 16 lbs. Denver can be shy at first with other dogs, but he warms up quickly and likes to play. He likes to play with the humans in his foster family as well. He is figuring out how to use the doggy door to go potty outside.  He loves attention and to be with his person at all times. He would love to be a lap dog!

Denver was diagnosed with Lyme Disease due to a tick infestation from when he was out on his own. Even though he was treated for the disease, it appears that many animals may never completely rid themselves of B. burgdorferi (Lymes) despite antibiotic treatment. These animals may never show any further signs of the disease, although some animals may develop chronic infections. The vast majority of infected dogs respond rapidly and satisfactorily to doxycycline treatment. In some animals with severe arthritis, pain relievers may also be used in addition to antibiotics.
